4/17/2016 · So I have a 2001 2500 with the 8. 1 . I bought the 8. 1 because it was a good price but it had 245 thousand miles on it, and I like power lol. Well it had 35s and I went down to a slightly smaller radial for fuel economy and what have ya. The truck also has after market exhaust on.
1/14/2006 · The 8.1/Allison should get similar economy as the 6.0/80E if not BETTER. That 80E has a shit OD ratio of 0.75:1 = high RPM on freeway over 65mph. I wouldn’t say no to an 8.1 with 4.10:1 gears. Just get some slightly taller tires on there versus those donuts to make it look like a real truck. S.
6/5/2002 · The only thing, in my opinion that keeps the 8.1 from being the PERFECT truck is the fuel mileage. Some of the things I have thought about to improve my mileage (which is 9-10 mpg..mostly city) is the K&N Filter Charger, aftermarket muffler, and tonneau cover for the bed.

This is a lot of vehicle weight that the engine has to pull, resulting in a LOT of work that the engine has to do in order to pull the vehicle which eats up your fuel. You can maintain your car up to service by servicing your plugs, changing your air, fuel filters, and don’t forget to check the tire pressure.
